Members of the LGBTQ community in Los Angeles are asking people to not be distracted by Jussie Smollett. Terra Russell-Slavin with the L.A. LGBT Center says the confusing and deeply unfortunate circumstances surrounding the “Empire” actor should not cloud the sobering facts about hate crimes in the nation.
